Who are HETAS?
HETAS is a not for profit organisation, offering a competent person scheme for installers of biomass and solid fuel hearing, registration for retailers and chimney sweeps and approval of appliances and fuels.
Customers who use a HETAS registered installer within England and Wales will be presented with a HETAS Certificate of Compliance - which is a Buildings Regulation Compliance Certificate - by their installer, upon completion of works undertaken to install a stove. The HETAS installer will present the Certificate of Completion at the point of completion or you may receive the certificate, by post.

Why use a HETAS registered installer?
A HETAS approved installer is a professionally recognised and certified engineer, who possesses theskills and experience to competently install your stove safely. A HETAS registered installer is able tocertify your new installation, upon completion.
The Certificate of Completion demonstrates that your new installation complies with the relevantBuilding Regulations. Hamilton’s of Chester will forward a copy of your certificate to HETAS, who,in-turn, will notify the appropriate local authority, on your behalf.If you decide to install a stove yourself, or use a company that is not HETAS registered, you will bepersonally responsible for applying to your local authorities building control department, for abuilding notice. You must then pay the appropriate fee (possibly up to £300). In this instance, youmust wait for the responsible Building Control Officer to complete their inspection and certify yourinstallation, prior to first use.
